By that I mean someone who has personal skills to correctly demonstrate all the strokes and water safety measures they are supposed to teach and be familiar with to prevent drowning. Heck, lifeguards who are the instructors, too, only have to swim 500 yards twice a week. I warm up 500 yards for my 2800 yard daily workout.

How is someone who doesn’t swim much able to tell you all the necessary visual, verbal,
and kinesthetic (feeling) cues and what to expect in an unfamiliar aquatic environment?

Now you are saying, “What the heck. I don’t need this. I already know how to swim.”
I can tell you from all my travels I’ve observed this one fact:
